Our Ballet classes for Boys and Men

Our belief and philosophy for training boys in ballet is that boys absolutely need to be in classes with other boys.  When a boy who loves to dance looks around and sees that he is surrounded by girls, all dressed in pink, they begin to question their desire to dance and come to the conclusion that ballet is for girls.

The only way to develop a desire to continue in ballet is to have boys in classes with other boys.  Boys have an energy and competitiveness that makes boys classes especially compelling for boys to embrace masculinity and athleticism in ballet.

Our boys look up to our men and teens who are setting a great example for them of strong male dancers as they lift the girls above their heads in our partnering classes and performances.

We have 2 levels of boys ballet classes and our program is growing more each year.  This year we  are opening a 3rd boys ballet class for 4 and 5 year old boys.  If you would like to try our boys classes, please email enpointeballet@comcast.net to register for a free month.

Swan Lake 2018

Our performances of Swan Lake were so beautiful!  I am so proud of our dancers and so grateful for how smoothly everything went and how well everyone worked together to present such wonderful performances.  The energy and emotions backstage are always such a joy to experience.  Watching my youngest daughter perform brought many proud mama feelings.

About our Owner and Artistic Director

En Pointe School of Ballet is owned and operated by Rachael Ellis.  Originally from Florida, Rachael began her training at the age of 6 at The Marianna School of Classical Ballet.  For  12 years she was instructed and guided by Leanna Gomez, a former Prima Ballerina.  It was through her excellent and nurturing instruction that Rachael developed a great love for classical ballet.

In addition to ballet, Rachael also enjoyed  many years of performing and choreographing for Musical Theater, Ballroom, Show choirs in High School and College, various  talent shows, & LDS Road-Shows with two winning first place for her choreography.  She also received an Associate of Arts Degree from Chipola Junior College in 1990.

During her husband's military career and travels she had the opportunity to share her ballet expertise with students in Ansbach, Germany where she operated the Katterbach School of Dance.  She also taught musical theater, ballroom and directed ballet programs in dance studios in Florida, Kentucky and Alabama.  Rachael has spent most of her life dancing, teaching and choreographing ballet, as well as several years of experience dancing and performing "en pointe" herself.

After a break to raise her family, Rachael realized how much she missed dancing and teaching. With her devoted husband and family's support and encouragement, En Pointe School of Ballet opened in 2010 and is flourishing under her direction and expertise.

A boys program was introduced to the curriculum in 2012  that has already grown to include multiple boys classes, men's classes, and partnering classes and is continuing to expand.  Her dreams of directing full length ballets for her students to perform have become reality and her students and their families, even the dad's, look forward each year to the beautiful performances.

Rachael is committed to teaching high quality technique in an environment that encourages self worth, dedication, unity and integrity.  She honors and embraces the tradition and elegance of Classical Ballet and invites you to experience it with us at En Pointe School of Ballet.

Home-School Ballet Classes

I would like to offer Ballet classes exclusively to Home-School students during the school day if there is enough interest.  Please contact me if this appeals to you or if your home school group or Co-op would like to joining together.

There are also a few openings on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons for 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Please check the schedule for class times and feel free to call me with any questions.  (801) 282-6998

There is a public library less than a mile from my home as well as three playgrounds that I can think of within a mile.  Families could also sit in my yard when the weather is nice and do school work.  I have a large backyard with a fountain and a fire-pit surrounded by chairs that you are welcome to use.
We are currently accepting enrollment for these classes and hope to start them by August or September 2018.  We teach year-round ballet classes, so now is the perfect time to start.

Please feel free to post this on any Home-School boards to share with others.  Thank you!

Why Choose Ballet Classes?

*Students engaged in movement and dance have higher levels of academic achievement, problem-solving skills, creativity, and physical coordination.

*Ballet introduces students to a foreign language and classical music, both of which increase cognitive learning.

*Ballet training develops core strength and strong muscles from head to toe.

*Ballet challenges the mind and body of children during their most important years of development.

*Ballet students develop improved self image, confidence, self motivation, coordination, flexibility, physical strength and discipline which will carry over into other aspects of the student’s life.
